2007: GERMANY were the hosts this time in the lovely seaside resort of TRAVEMÜNDE on the coast of the Ost See (Baltic Sea). The DPV donated a new trophy which they proceeded to win with 44 wins. The Swedish Federation improved on their number of wins but were overtaken by the PFV Belgium teams who came second with 42 wins. The banquet was held on the sailing ship Passat with a spectacular firework concluding the event. Germany contributed to the rain record of the Tournament with two torrential cloudbursts on the Saturday.

2006: The historic town of FREDRIKSTAD in NORWAY hosted the Tournament which began in glorious sunshine, followed by torrential rain by lunchtime on the first day but the weather gradually recovered. Germany (43 wins) won the the third time in a row, which meant that the retained the trophy donated by Norma and Stuart Parkway. Sweden were runners up with 36 wins, with the Netherlands third with 35 wins.

2005: Cardiff Yacht Club in WALES was the venue for this year's Tournament. Looking out towards the Atlantic Ocean, the competition was nevertheless played in typical North Sea weather - 25 degree sunshine on the opening day, followed by thunderstorms that made several pistes unplayable, and a cold and wet third day. The winners were the DPV (Germany) with 44 wins out of 60 with just 2 wins more than the NJBB (Holland).

2004: This 25th Tournament was held at the Lindome Boules Klub at MÖLNDAL in the West of SWEDEN. The DPV won, taking from the SBF the opportunity of retaining the Trophy. The VLPS changed its name to PFV (Pétanque Federatie Vlaanderen). Leo and Maria van Craeyvelt attended their last Tournament as President and Secretary and were succeeded by Andrew and Diana Lloyd.

2003: Unusually for the North Sea Tournament, the competition was held in sunny, warm weather, at BREDA, HOLLAND, at the EBHV-Va Tout. The SBF won for the third time (2nd consecutive win).

2002: This year’s competition was held in the beautiful Botanic Gardens in the heart of BRUXELLES (Brussels), BELGIUM. The NPF was unable to take part and the SBF won the Tournament.

2001: The Danish Association organised the Tournament in the Scandic Hotel Bygholm Park, HORSENS, DENMARK. The VLPS were unable to attend. The DPV won the Tournament.

2000: The Tournament was held in an unusual venue, the Europapark Adventure Theme Park at Rust near FREIBURG, GERMANY. Many players were able to take the opportunity to try out some of the rides in the Park. The winners were the DPV. Karsten Köhler died and his widow, Ingeborg, presented the Presidents’ Cup to Leo van Craeyvelt.

1999: The first time that the Tournament was held in NORWAY, in the Frogner Park in OSLO, close to the world famous Vigeland sculptures. The Trophy was won by Sweden, ending an eight win run by the VLPS and the first Scandinavian country to win the Trophy. It was decided to discontinue the Presidents’ Cup and the Cup was presented in perpetuity to Karsten Köhler, the President of the DPV.

1998: A new Trophy was presented to the Tournament by Norma and Stuart Parkway of the BPA’s South-East Region. The Competition was played in torrential rain at Castle Farm, KENILWORTH, GREAT BRITAIN. The winners were the VLPS.

1997: The 18th INSPT was held at RONNEBY BRUNN, SWEDEN at one of Sweden’s largest conference centres surrounded by a beautiful park. The VLPS won, thus retaining the Horst Milde Trophy.

1995: A new Trophy was presented by Mr. Horst Milde, President of the State Parliament of Lower Saxony in Germany. The Tournament was held in GERMANY at the P. C. Ruscherei in WILHELMSHAVEN. The winners were the VLPS with one more victory than the SBF.

1993: The Tournament was played in the Provoost Hall in OOSTENDE (Ostend), BELGIUM and was won by the VLPS. Prior to the Tournament, a demonstration game was played between SBF 1 and VLPS 1 in Ostend Town Centre.

1992: The Tournament was held at Botley Park Hotel and Country Club, BOTLEY, UK. For the first time, teams of Ladies played as Group 4. A new Trophy was donated by Mrs. Lees in memory of her late husband Barrie, who had fostered coaching skills within the BPA. The Tournament was won by the VLPS.

1990: The Dansk Pétanque Forbund (DPF) joined the Committee and Tournament as the seventh and final member. For the first time, a Junior Team is compulsory in Group 5. The Tournament was played at Pildammsparken in MALMÖ, SWEDEN and was won by the VLPS.

1989: With the addition of Norway, six nations took part in the Tournament with five teams each. The Tournament was held at the Stadtpark at DÜREN, GERMANY. The VLPS won again. Stan Polman was a guest of honour to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Competition.

1988: Norway became a member with the Norges Boule Forbund (NBF) later to become the Norges Petanque Forbund (NPF) but did not participate in this year’s Competition. The Competition was held at PC Verbroedering in Heusden/Destelbergen near GENT (Ghent), BELGIUM and was won by the NJBB. At the Committee Meeting held during the Competition, it was decided to call the competition the “International North Sea Pétanque Tournament”.

1984: The SBF played in the Competition which now consisted of four nations of 8 teams each and was held at the City Sports Centre in GENT (Ghent), BELGIUM. The VLPS won again and therefore retained the PIAT Trophy.

1983: The Svenska Boule Förbundet (SBF) joined the Committee although did not participate in the competition that year. The Piat North Sea Competition and the North Sea Committee were established. Leo van Craeyvelt was elected as President and Maria van Craeyvelt de With was elected Secretary to the Committee. The Competition was played at Sprowston Hall, NORWICH, U.K. For the first time, a souvenir programme was printed. Dr. ‘Shriv’ Shrivastana, the President of the BPA donated a Presidents’ Cup, to be played for annually by the National Presidents of the participating nations. The Competiiton was won again by the VLPS and the Presidents’ Cup by Kees van Es (NJBB).

1982: Contact had been made with the British Pétanque Association (BPA) and this year’s competition included 8 teams from each of the three nations and was played at Spaarnberg in SANTPOORT near Harlem, HOLLAND. The VLPS won for the third successive time and therefore retained the original trophy. The BPA had obtained a new trophy sponsored by PIAT and the competition became known as the PIAT Trophy.

1979: Talks of a friendly competition were held between Stan Polman, President of Nederlandse Jeu de Boules Bond (NJBB) and Leo van Craeyvelt, President of the Flemish League – the Vlaamse Liga Pétanque Sport (VLPS), the Flemish speaking part of the Belgian Pétanque Federation.
